Ingredients:

For the dish:

  • 5 cups flour
  • 3-4 cups warm water
  • ¼ tb. salt
  • ½ lb. chopped meat
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced

For the Garlic-Yogurt Sauce:

  • 4-5 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 16 oz. yogurt
  • Pinch of dried mint
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cumin
  • ½ cup good quality olive oil

Preparation:

Make a dough with the flour, salt and water. Roll out and cut into strips and then into squares. Sauté the meat with a little onion in butter. In each square of dough put a teaspoon of the meat and onion mixture. Close to form a packet and press the edges with a fork to seal. Boil water and drop the packets into it. Boil until tender. When done, drain.

For the sauce, crush the garlic with the salt. Mix the crushed garlic and salt with the yogurt. Stir in the olive oil and add the cumin and mint.

Place the packets back into the pot and add the yogurt sauce. Leave on the heat for 2 minutes and then serve.

Sprinkle the Manti with a little sweet paprika if desired.
