Olive Tree Varieties

[Albania] [Algeria] [Argentina] [Australia] [Chile] [Croatia] [Cyprus] [Egypt] [France] [Greece] [Israel] [Italy] [Jordan] [Lebanon] [Morocco] [Palestine] [Portugal] [Slovenia] [Spain] [Syria] [Tunisia] [Turkey] [United States] [Yugoslavia]

In the Mediterranean, hundreds of olive tree cultivars have been selected over the centuries for their adaptation to various microclimates and soil types. Some cultivars are common only locally, while others are found in several countries.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the names of the different cultivars. The same name has been given to similar but clearly different selections, and different names may be used for identical cultivars. In the following list we are trying to give you an idea of how many different cultivars exist in each country.
